WHO WE ARE
At The VINE, we are extremely passionate about community. It is the reason we chose the image of a vine. In many cultures, it symbolizes connection, growth, and friendship. And these are all of the things that are desperately needed in the Bay Area video industry.
In these unprecedented times of rampant remote work, where creatives are feeling disconnected from their peers, where artists creativity is being replaced by anxiety provoking artificial intelligence and where a volatile job market is making a stable career and living wage harder and harder to come by, we felt it was time to unite and support each other through all of this.
We do this by bringing people together every month, so that we can listen, learn, laugh and remember what we love about our craft and industry.

OUR ORIGIN STORY
The VINE debuted in February of 2024, in the ashes of the COVID-19 global pandemic. It was started by video editor Eric Wise and cinematographer Roy Wanguhu, two east bay creatives who, like many others, saw their industry greatly affected by this unique moment in human history.
It was experiencing in the early days of the pandemic, a shut down of video production nationwide, leading to a stop and start re-opening and confusing California production guidelines going forward.
It was coming off of 4 years of extreme isolation working a 100% remote full-time job, where he would go long stretches without human contact.
In the wake of this, they both saw the strong desire for the Bay Area video community to come together and heal.
WHO WE HELP
The VINE is for everyone in the video community. This is including, but not limited to, filmmakers, producers, sound professionals, video editors, cinematographers, screenwriters, motion designers, creative directors – you name it.
If you work or aspire to work in any capacity in the video industry – you’re welcome at the VINE.
